In this blog we are going to share experiences and knowledge in a different way. You are expected to jump in with ideas and comment on other people's thoughts as well.
This first blog has to do with JOBS.
Since one of the jobs we discussed in class has to do with being a Kindergarten teacher, I thought it would be a good idea to discuss the Poem: "All I need to know I learned in Kindergarten" by Robert Fulghum.
I invite you to read part of the Poem and watch two videos and comment on any of its parts. You can give an example of what someone else did, what should be done on a particular occassion, or share a personal experience. The idea is that you relate the content of the Poem with a personal matter.
You will see two videos of the Poem. To view them cut and paste the following addresses in two different pages and you'll have access to the videos.
Welcome and let's start blogging!

All I Really Need To Know I Learned In Kindergarten
by Robert Fulghum
Most of what I really need
To know about how to live
And what to do and how to be
I learned in kindergarten.
Wisdom was not at the top
Of the graduate school mountain,
But there in the sandpile at Sunday school.
These are the things I learned:
Share everything.
Play fair.
Don't hit people.
Put things back where you found them.
Clean up your own mess.
Don't take things that aren't yours.
Say you're sorry when you hurt somebody.
Wash your hands before you eat.
Flush.
Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you.
Live a balanced life -
Learn some and think some
And draw and paint and sing and dance
And play and work everyday some.
Take a nap every afternoon.
When you go out into the world,
Watch out for traffic,
Hold hands and stick together.
Be aware of wonder.
Hi Everybody!!!...I've just watched the 2 videos that were post on the blog. First of all, I love the poem, it's so true every single word its says...Sometimes we don't give us a little while to think about how our own life is going on. In my own experience, I see that some things (the university, the institute, all my responsabilities) take part first, and I don't pay attention to other important things like visit my friends, share with my family or smile because God gives me the chance to live another day...I want to underline the phrase that moved me: 'BE AWARE OF WONDER'...I don't have anything else to say... :) see you!!!
ReplyDeleteSorry!I forget to write down my name!. Salomé González
ReplyDeleteSalomé, "Be aware of wonder"; this is all we should do to enjoy life..
DeleteI liked the poem, I think we need to pay more attention to small things, the details have others with us. I think the poem wants to tell us that we must learn to value all we have and that just follow simple rules our lives are filled with other values to those imposed by most of today's society. It's like going backwards to see really what we need to be good people. The part I liked was: HOLD HANDS AND STIK TOGETHER, I think that means we have to be careful between us.
ReplyDeleteFlorencia Fernández.
Hold hands and stick together, essential to get ahead in life and not leave anyone behind, we should take care of one another! Very nice comment, Flor!
DeleteWell I really like this poem, I have to say that this phrase "Wisdom was not at the top of the graduate school mountain" is true, because sometimes people think that in the kinder garden kids don't learn things that can use in the future, but for me, we learn the first values as humans, and we begin to have relation with other people, that are not our family.. And this is very important ! In my opinion sometimes there are small things and details that can make us best person.
ReplyDeleteElisa Andrada
You are right, Elisa, we should be careful with the details we have with other people, this is a basic human value!
DeleteI really liked the poem and I think that what the poem's trying to tell us is that we have to appreciate every single day and to spend more time with all the people we love and that every thing we learned in kindergarden we have to try to apply it in our life. The part i liked the most was: "SHARE EVERYTHING" and "LIVE A BALANCE LIFE".
ReplyDeleteM. Del Valle Castro.
Valle, it's so true what you say, we should learn to share with the people we live with and the people we love, life is made up of those beautiful moments :))
DeleteHello! I hope you are well! I believe that all the things that the writer say in the poem are true! :) I have to say that sometimes we should be children again and live life doing this things! sometimes we forget smile, be quiet, share, hug and kiss our family! Also I want to add the phrase that I like most: "Hold hands and stick together" because, we have to do all the things with love and be together, in family, with friends, with people who really love us! See you soon! Luciana
ReplyDeleteyes, we should always try to see life with children's eyes, Luciana :))
DeleteI liked the poem, and I think that the things that says are totally true. Sometimes when we are kids we don´t notice how important are the things that the kindergarten teacher teach us. Things like: sharing your things with other people, making friends, don´t take things that aren´t yours and the rest, are values that when we are young, we don´t realise how useful will be in our lives but when we are growing we have to take into account them, because they will help us in the future to make us good people.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion we must be grateful for being able to learn all those important things in the kindergarten. Many children would like to have an education based on values and unfortunately they can´t because of certain problems.
I am sure that kindergarten is the best time for kids because they learn useful things in a funny way.
WE HAVE TO HOLD HANDS AND STICK TOGETHER IN THIS WORLD, BECAUSE YOU DON´T KNOW WHAT EXPECTS TO YOU IN THE FUTURE.
Florencia Lucero.
Flor, you shared with us all the important values that we learned in kinder, as you said, we should not forget them..
DeleteI really like the poem because that things are true, in kindergarden we learn to share, values and make friends, this poem is trying to tell us that we have to enjoy every single day and appreciate our family and friends because together we can do anything, Enrique.
ReplyDeleteThe value of friends and family is at the top of the scale, so true Enrique!
DeleteWell..I´m agree with you in the part that you said that we have to enjoy every single day.. I think that it´s very important because somentimes we don´t know what we have in front our eyes and we don´t value some situations. Furthermore I think that we should to get close to our family and talk more with them! This allows a good comunication which is very importante nowadays.
DeleteHello..! Honestly, I loved the poem ,becouse I think that says a lot of truth about value lessons that kindergarden left us,as value things, respect, making friends, and other really important things, that often we didn't pay attention to LITTLE details that make a BIG difference in us.
ReplyDeleteI really like the phrases "Live a balanced life -" and "Be aware of wonder." Very beautiful phrases!.. See you! :)
Melanie =)
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Meli! I love your phrase: little details make a big difference in us!
DeleteHi, I'm Ana Bustelo, I think that this poem make us think about our childnest and how happy we were at that moment... I't so good to remember all the littles things that we used to do when we were 4 or 5 years.. I like when it said: When you go out into the world ,watch out for traffic, hold hands and stick together. Be aware of wonder.
ReplyDeleteI think that it is true that we have to stick together, everything is better together, we should learn from each other!.. I really like this poem, it make me think a lot..
Thanks you for share this things whit us, see you!
Hello I liked very much the poem... I remember when I went to the kindergarten
ReplyDeleteit was very exciting because everyday we learned a new thing, but more important was that in that place I met a friend who is now my best friend named Jimena to which everybody knows. I love her like a sister, because we have shared many moments together some bad and other good, but I think that kindergarten taught me that friendship born of a simple moment and can last for years if you care!!!.
Fer, I remember the saim things and in kindergarten I met my best friend too. She is my friend since I was 4 and I wold never change she for another person
DeleteIt's so good to remember this things, bye!!
Ana Clara and Fer, sooo good that the poem briught you refreshing memories of your childhood and that you could reflect about deep thoughts such as friendship and learning from others. I'm glad about that! :))
ReplyDeleteHello I think that the kindergarden it was our second home because we learn a lot of thing like share, respect, love your family and friend and a lot of thing. Some phrase that I like was Live a balanced life because we live very quickly and sometimes we didn´t enjoy we have to live the moment and enojoy everything
